We are so excited to welcome Dr. Lena Bortnem to the Datwyler family!
She is a brilliant orthodontist and has an amazing passion for this job. She loves to have fun while she works, so you know she’s a good fit with our team! You’ll love her for her infectious smile and caring attitude.
Dr. Datwyler isn’t going anywhere! Dr. Lena will be working side by side with Dr. D, and all patients will have the opportunity to be seen by both doctors. We’re always looking for ways to improve your experience, and with Dr. Lena on board, we’ll be able to provide more appointment availability for all our patients!

Dr. Bortnem decided she wanted to be an orthodontist at age 11, and her dedication to this dream has only grown! After studying Biology at Chapman University, Dr. Lena received her DDS from The University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco. She then went on to complete her orthodontic residency at Oregon Health & Sciences University in Portland.
When she isn’t at work, you can find Dr. Lena jogging, lifting weights, playing volleyball, or enjoying a nice salmon sashimi! You can tell she loves what she does by listening closely while she’s working. You just might hear her joyfully humming a tune as she goes about her day!
Pro tip: If you want to get to know her a bit better, ask her about her favorite TV show! Dr. Bortnem is a Netflix aficionado, and enjoys a good show after a workout or a long day.
