Many people who need orthodontics are hesitant to get them for a big reason — the cost. Patients often feel they “can’t afford” treatment with braces or clear aligners. At Datwyler Orthodontics, we work hard to make your treatment affordable. That includes working with your insurance and paying through a Health Savings Account, or HSA.

You may not know the options you have available to pay for your braces or clear aligners. Let’s take you through a few of those options. You might be surprised at how affordable your treatment can be!

Does My Insurance Cover Braces?

One of the biggest questions patients have is about dental insurance. Sure, it covers cleanings and fillings, but braces? Most dental insurance plans cover most, if not all, of the cost of braces, including traditional metal braces or clear ceramic braces. The amount of coverage varies.

Datwyler Orthodontics is used to dealing with insurance companies. If you aren’t sure what your policy covers, see us! We’ll work with you and your insurance provider to determine how much of your braces treatment your insurance will cover.

Does My Insurance Cover Invisalign?

You may think dental insurance covers braces but not clear aligners such as Invisalign. That may have been the case in the past, but it’s not the case now! Most dental insurance policies will cover Invisalign treatment as well as treatment with braces.

So if you’d prefer to have clear aligners, we can work with your insurance company and determine how much coverage your dental policy will have for Invisalign treatment.

Will My HSA or FSA Cover What Insurance Doesn’t?

Yes! Your Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flex Spending Account (FSA) can cover the portion of your treatment that your dental insurance does not.

It is important here to know the difference between these two accounts. The FSA only lasts one year. It expires at the end of the calendar year or the end of your company’s fiscal year (check with your human resource director or your insurance company for the correct date). The money does NOT carry over to the following year, so you lose those funds if you don’t spend them.

The Health Savings Account does carry over, so if you don’t spend all of the money by the end of the year, you can carry that into the following year.

You can use either of these accounts to pay the balance for braces or clear aligners. You can use either to make payments.

Are There Other Financing Options?

Yes! Datwyler Orthodontics offers adjustable down payments, monthly payments, and flexible payment periods. We work with you to fit your orthodontic treatment into your budget. You deserve to have the smile of your dreams, and we don’t want the cost to stop you from getting it!
